Supervisor : Mr. Aaron Cookson (Principal)
August 2019- Current Suburban-Rural Community Counselor to Student ratio 1:380 Perrysburg Schools Spotlight October 2021 Employee Spotlight Fall Edition for Facility dog work in the Counseling department. Data...Data...Data... SCUTA!It may be the previous science teacher coming out in me or just my nature but I love to collect and analyze data. No matter what efforts are made I look to see what data can be used to reflect on practice to evaluate and to drive my future work. Throughout the year, I like to design and offer surveys, collect perception and quantitative data that can be looked at to draw conclusions, providing insight and make decision making intentional for my students and our counseling program.
Over the course of my work at Perrysburg High School we (the department and I) have used data collected by the advocacy tool , SCUTA, to change building policy as well as provide evidence for the need of additional staff to include a new counselor as well as student services assistant to the director that would be responsible for Non-School Counseling tasks , such as 504 management. Facility Dogs at Work!Facility Dog ProgramResearch confidently claims that animal interaction can encourage and promote effective communication , relationship building , in a safe and trusted environment. In cooperation with Circle Tail in Cincinnati and other ADI accredited programs , I am able to work as a handler trainer to work with facility dogs in their beginning & final stages of training in the school setting. While in their final stage of training dogs are are available to offer a positive Facility Dog experience for everyone in the school on a daily basis. Students & staff are able to interact with the facility dog throughout the day in the hallways, classrooms or while visiting the counseling office. Each year Perrysburg High School will welcome a new student teacher canine into our Jacket family and reap the benefits of having such a powerful and genuine mental health support intervention. The goal for this programming would be to eventually welcome a full time Facility dog into the Jacket Family!

AND FUN!Roles & Responsibilities
ASCA RAMPPerrysburg Counseling Department is working on developing a program that is reflective of best practice outlined by the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Model. Working intentionally with data and providing services that are most beneficial for our students and school needs we are able to support academic , career and socio emotional growth for ALL. In the past year we have established a PHS Counseling Department Advisory Board and use this platform to share out goals and progress all the while welcoming feedback from all it's members. I have co-lead this effort with Mrs. Nicole Bihn & Mrs. Brooke Potts, colleagues and friends in the department. Our goal to apply for RAMP certification in October 2023 is quickly approaching and we continue to work diligently designing, implementing and reporting on our progress.
